Privacy-First Approach

Uply is designed with privacy at its core. Your financial data is stored locally on your device by default, and we only process the minimum data necessary to provide our OCR and AI services. You have full control over your information.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Data You Provide

  • Images: Photos of bank statements, receipts, and financial documents you upload for processing
  • Account Information: Email address and basic profile information if you create an account
  • Settings: Your app preferences, currency settings, and categorization choices
  • Payment Information: We do not collect or store your payment data directly. All payments are securely processed through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Android). We receive only anonymized transaction status (e.g., active, expired, canceled) to manage your subscription.

1.2 Automatically Collected Data

No personally identifiable information (PII) is collected unless necessary:

  • Usage Analytics: How you use the app (anonymized, no personal data)
  • Device Information: Device type, OS version, app version (used for support only)
  • Error Logs: Technical information to help us fix bugs and improve performance

2. How We Use Your Information

2.1 Core Services

  • OCR Processing: Images are sent to advanced OCR services to extract text
  • AI Parsing: Extracted text is processed by AI to structure transaction data
  • Local Storage: Processed data is stored locally on your device

2.2 Service Improvement

  • Analyze usage patterns to improve app functionality (anonymized data only)
  • Fix bugs and enhance performance based on error logs
  • Develop new features based on user needs

Important: Data used for analytics and improvement is fully anonymized and aggregated.

2.3 Subscription Management

  • We use your subscription status (active/inactive) to unlock premium features
  • We do not store your credit card or billing details — these are handled entirely by Apple and Google
  • Your subscription status is securely retrieved from the store to provide access to Pro features

Third-Party Subscription Management: We use RevenueCat, a trusted subscription infrastructure provider, to manage and verify in-app purchases. RevenueCat does not collect your payment details. It only helps us verify whether your subscription is active to enable premium features.

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Local Storage

By default, all your processed financial data is stored locally on your device. This includes:

  • Extracted transaction data
  • Spending categories and budgets
  • Historical expense records
  • Custom settings and preferences

3.2 Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services for core functionality:

  • Google Vision API: For OCR text extraction (images are processed and not stored)
  • OpenAI GPT: For intelligent transaction parsing (text data only, not stored)
  • Apple App Store & Google Play Store: For app distribution and in-app purchases
  • RevenueCat: For subscription management and verification (no payment details collected)

Important: We do not store your financial images or parsed data on our servers. AI and OCR providers process this data in-memory only and do not retain it.

3.3 Security Measures

  • All data transmission is encrypted using industry-standard protocols
  • Images sent for OCR processing are immediately deleted after text extraction
  • No financial images are stored on our servers
  • Local data is protected by your device's security features

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

4.1 We Do Not Sell Your Data

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information or financial data to third parties for marketing purposes.

4.2 Limited Sharing

We may share information only under strict controls in the following scenarios:

  • Service Providers: Third-party services for OCR and AI processing (as described above)
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our legal rights
  • Safety: To prevent fraud or protect user safety

Protection Guarantee: All third-party services used are contractually obligated to protect your data and comply with relevant privacy laws.

5. Your Privacy Rights

5.1 Data Control

  • Access: Review all data stored locally on your device
  • Delete: Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export: Export your data in standard formats
  • Opt-out: Disable analytics and optional data sharing

How to Delete: You can delete your data at any time via the app's settings or by contacting support.

Subscription Management: Manage your subscription directly in your Apple ID or Google Play account. You may cancel auto-renewal, request refunds (where applicable), or change plans via the respective store settings.

5.2 Regional Rights

Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under laws such as GDPR (EU) or CCPA (California):

  • Right to know what personal information we collect
  • Right to delete personal information
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information
  • Right to data portability

6. Children's Privacy

Uply is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete such information.

7. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own when using third-party services. We ensure these transfers comply with applicable privacy laws and include appropriate safeguards.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the app and updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of Uply after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
